San Salvador, Bahamas

Scuba Diving Resort & Fishing Destination
The small island of San Salvador in the Bahamas, just 360 miles southeast of Miami, is one of the premier scuba diving and fishing Mecca’s of the world.
Perched on a pinnacle and washed by warm breezes and clear azure waters, San Salvador is home to Riding Rock Resort & Marina.
The diving here is unlike anywhere else in the Bahamas. San Salvador lies just outside the Caribbean in the Atlantic Ocean. Surrounded by deep water, encounters with pelagic species like scalloped hammerhead sharks are not unusual.
Visibility often exceeds 150 feet–our wall dives are simply breathtaking.
Being one of the southeastern most islands in the Bahamas chain, San Salvador, also known as Columbus Isle, is just twelve miles long by five miles wide and home to approximately 950 residents.
Let’s Dive In
Bahamas Scuba Diving, San Salvador
Our dive sites are located very close by on San Salvador island’s lee side. Boat rides are short and we rarely encounter rough seas. Most of our dive sites are along walls, with the reef starting around 40′ deep. Divers can expect encounters with turtles, sharks and pelagic marine life at any depth.
Our Guanahani Divers dive staff enjoy nothing more than introducing “new-to-our-island” divers to San Salvador, which has a well-earned reputation for the best diving in the Bahamas. Of course, we love welcoming our many repeat guests back to visit their favorite sites.
San Salvador is one of the top five wall-diving destinations anywhere. Underwater visibility easily exceeds 100 feet. Shark lovers will be pleased to hear that San Salvador is home to many shark species, with the Scalloped Hammerheads being a favorite with our divers.
Diving includes: Two morning and one afternoon boat dive on the “full” dive days plus a 1-tank dive on the last dive day. No diving is scheduled for the day of arrival or departure.
All inclusive Bahamas dive resort packages include: Accommodations, meals, San Salvador Airport transfers to/from the resort and all taxes.
Resort packages exclude: Personal purchase items, alcoholic beverage, sodas, bottled water, gratuities and transportation to and from San Salvador island.
Additional boat dives: Additional boat dives may be possible for an additional $50.00 per dive with a minimum of 6 divers for day or night dives. These dives can be arranged once you are on-island.
The dive boats depart the marina around 9:00 am for the first of the two morning-dives. The close proximity of the dive sites enables the boats to return to the marina between dives, as necessary, allowing divers to take a break off the boats during the surface interval. Should a dive group prefer to stay at sea for the surface interval, the boats need not return. The afternoon dive boats depart after lunch, generally at 2:30 pm, for a one-tank dive.
